Critical slowing down

Note: CSD: critical slowing down is a term used to describe the decreasing rate of recovery from small disturbances to a system as it approaches a tipping point. When a system is close to a tipping point, it can take a long time to recover from even a very small disturbance.

There are several depending on the discipline: it appears in Geological, Astronomy, and a recent one Biological (from UGA in Athens, GA). I’d just suggest entering the phrase in quotation marks into Google. You should fine several interesting articles.  Cheers – Richard @ Flexible Reality
