Concerning the debt ceiling debate

···
This is a stupid redundant extra step that no other country saddles itself with. Our country has already created this debt by launching two wars that were never paid for and never budgeted to pay for them. The Republican Faction reduced income tax collection by at least $800 Billion per year, also without attempting to pay for it. It is an old Republican Cartel political trick to run up the debt and then make a big deal of having to pay for costs when the bills come due if the Democrats are in power – to make it look like they are responsible for the debt that the Republicans accrued by gifting taxpayer reductions to their wealthiest donors and themselves. The debt ceiling increase is needed to keep our country front defaulting on the spending already authorized and made. … … … Once the money is spent on credit, there is an implicit promise made to pay it back – even if money has to be borrowed to do so. … … …
The debt ceiling at this time has little to do with currently authorized expenditures and everything to do with the debt created under the trump. To not authorize the debt ceiling increase is to say that our country will not repay the debt that we owe. Period. And that would be catastrophic to our country in many, many ways since our currency is currently the de facto world standard and our international credit allows borrowing at highly preferential rates because we have never chosen to not repay what we owe to others – making an investment in our debt one of the safest ways to have a protected investment in the world. … … …
In effect, not increasing the debt ceiling would be a declaration and an act that our country chooses to not repay our debt even though it has the means to do so. Defaulting on our debt obligations because the Republican Cartel wants to score political points by blaming Democrats for the debt ceiling increase, which is required by their prior spending, is not worth the costs or consequences of another Republican Cartel stage show in their great political theater. It would be a catastrophic lose-lose proposition for just about everyone. … … …
Let’s get the government working once again and rid our country of the obstructionist Republican Cartel so that an actual principled conservative movement can emerge and that this useless debt-ceiling artifact from a bygone age is removed so it can no longer be used as a political gaming tool. It really serves no other purpose whatsoever.
